Dental Procedures

There has been nothing short of a revolution in the veterinary dental arena. We now have the American College of Veterinary Dentistry, a specialty college responsible for the certification of veterinary dental specialists. Research into dental disease has clearly shown just how important oral health is to overall pet health. Better oral health allows your pet to live a longer, happier life. In particular, the kidneys, liver, and heart suffer if we do not pay attention to dental disease. Our dental program at the Amherst Small Animal Hospital has changed dramatically over the last few years. The quality of our dental program is top notch. We invested $12,000.00 in our dental equipment in 1999 alone. Dr. Stein continues to train with the Michigan State University dental instructor, Dr. Tom Eberhard, whenever he goes on his mini-sabbaticals to his alma mater. With the strength of our anesthetic program, we can confidently address the needs of those many aging pets that struggle with serious dental problems.
