Kitten Adoption

Up

The number of unwanted cats and kittens destroyed every year is staggering. Our feline friends are wonderful additions to the family. They are remarkably easy to maintain. They can add life to our years and years to our lives.

The 5 kittens pictured to the left live with me now. We found them while traveling on a family vacation. Their mother was just barely surviving off handouts. The kittens were accustomed to human contact but their mother was not. Their life expectancy could be predicted to be a few years at best. We had often discussed the creation of an adoption program for hard luck kittens at the hospital. At that moment I knew it was time to start. We took the entire litter home with us expecting to keep 1 or 2 (we already had 1 cat home at the time). In the end, they were too precious together to ever think of separating them. Now we have 6 cats.   Dr. Bob Stein

Our kittens are required to have a friendly personality. They are examined for signs of disease. Stool checks screen for internal parasites. Dewormings are performed and fleas are eliminated. The kittens are quarantined for a minimum of 7 days to minimize the likelihood of any health concerns. We work very hard to polish their social skills. Baths are given as needed.

After their 1st week, the kittens have Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDs Virus testing performed. Vaccinations are begun against Feline Distemper and Rabies (if old enough). Neutering and spaying is performed age permitting.

There is a $85.00 dollar charge for these adoptions.

Our program is entirely supported by the practice as a sign of our commitment to our feline friends and our community.
