Collecting urine

Up

Any water (rain, dew) or snow that mixes with the urine sample will affect the results of the urine tests. In most cases, we suggest you discard such contaminated samples and try again another day.

If you are unable to collect a urine sample at home, we will try to collect a sample during your pet's next visit. Just avoid any "potty stops" during the  2 or 3 hours before your appointment. Take your pet directly to the car, and from the car into the hospital, avoiding any opportunities to eliminate along the way. You may want to leave your pet in the car and have one of our staff retrieve the pet for you. This way we can attempt to collect the urine sample on the way into our building.
