Melanie Russ

 

Melanie Russ is a recent graduate of Canisius College, with a B.S. in Biology and Animal Behavior, Ecology, and Conservation.  Through the college’s Zoo Biology laboratory
and an internship at the Buffalo Zoo, she has cared for a variety of exotic species.  Melanie also spent a summer in South Africa where she studied samango monkeys and predator-prey relationships, and volunteered with the Eco-Schools program to educate local school children about conservation.
She wants to have a career caring for and promoting the conservation of endangered and exotic animals at zoos and wildlife sanctuaries.

Melanie is a tireless assistant who anticipates the needs of our doctors and technicians and provides excellent patient care.

Melanie enjoys reading, music, and hiking.  She shares her home with lovebirds and her
cats, Ivy and Ozzy.
