Licensed Veterinary Technicians are the "nurses" of our
profession. There are both 2 year and 4 year degrees just as there are in the
human healthcare field. Technician training covers all aspects of
veterinary care including the administration of medications, collecting and
performing laboratory tests, administering and monitoring anesthesia, taking
radiographs, assisting in surgical procedures, and counseling pet owners. Our
technicians are the backbone of the healthcare team; our "Angels of
Mercy". Long the unsung hero of most hospital successes, we have benefited
greatly from the involvement of these wonderful individuals in our outpatient
arena. Now, most of our clients know them by name.
